My family and I love this coffee table. The slate top is uneven in some places but it makes it look more rustic. Some people might not beable to deal with the fact that the slate pieces are uneven. I am guessing that this flaw is why the table was only [$]. We didn't want to send the table back, as we didn't notice this until after we had assembled the table. - MEM the bargain hunter
