Cobalt Pedestal Desk with Short Hutch in Field Maple

I'm a telecommuter and needed a desk to remove my business from the dining room table to an environment more conducive to work. I dreaded assembling this item, but all the parts, and the pre-drilled holes, were designed with great precision...it all fit perfectly. The toughest part is the final step, when the desktop must be aligned with several embedded screws, and here is where an assistant would be most handy, though I managed to accomplish it on my own. I'm in my mid-60s, a stroke survivor, and have limited mobility on my right side -- so I really appreciate the care taken in this aspect of the design. I found the instructions a bit difficult to understand at first -- it's entirely graphical, with no written instruction at all, but after a little study of the pictures I knew what I was up to. My bulky laser printer fits perfectly in the cabinet portion of the desk, and my computer tower, monitor, speakers and a large telephone console crowd the desktop a bit, but at least its all in easy reach! Considering the affordable price, I couldn't be happier. Okay, maybe I could be a little happier if it were made entirely of natural wood rather than dense particle board, but the bonded finish looks as handsome as natural wood, and it does seem very sturdy. - Uncle Bob
